Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)

Teeth whitening application, called bleaching, is the procedures we perform to make the teeth whiter than their current colour. The darkness of your tooth colour may be genetic or may have occurred due to external factors. Teeth whitening is performed using the method that is most suitable for you after your dental examination.

There are two types of whitening methods to lighten the dark tooth colour formed on the enamel, which is the outer layer of the tooth. The first of these is office-type bleaching and the second is home-type bleaching. Internal bleaching is applied for internal darkening of the tooth.

While office-type whitening applications provide results with single-session treatments, internal whitening procedures, which are applied in tooth colour darkness caused by the loss of tooth vitality, mostly involving a single tooth, take two or three sessions.

Before the teeth whitening process, the caries treatments to be performed in the mouth should be completed and dental scaling should be performed. After the teeth whitening process, especially for the first 24 hours, coloured food should not be consumed and acidic drinks should be avoided. For sensitivity that may occur, hard tooth brushing should be avoided and teeth should be brushed with desensitising toothpaste.
